Sacrament is a work on which LAMB OF GOD combined finely chugging guitar, twist-laden rhythm and Randy Blythe’s rough voice. While the songs have the weight of groove metal, they keep betraying expectation with sudden breaks and ominous phrases. It is a signature work of their mature period that clinched the band’s popularity. On “Walk with Me in Hell,” “Redneck” and “Again We Rise,” the weight of a single blow and the precision of the playing balance, and the album always keeps its tension. In particular, “Redneck” became a signature crowd favorite and was even nominated for a Grammy. Songs like “Descending” and “Blacken the Cursed Sun” breathe the band’s full playing too.
