『Kill or Get Killed』は、IRON SAVIORが、SF的な世界観、鋼鉄のように硬質なリフ、そして勇壮な大合唱コーラスを、一つの力強い推進力へと、見事にまとめ上げた作品だ。機械の駆動を思わせる、正確なリズムの上で、ギターは、硬質な刻みと、高揚感あふれるリードとを往復し、曲を、前へ前へと押し出していく。音像は重いが、決して鈍くはなく、低域の圧力と、上昇するメロディとが同居することで、未来的でありながら、古典的なヘヴィ・メタルの手触りを、しっかりと保っている。 冒頭の表題曲“Kill or Get Killed”の力強さ、“Roaring Thunder”の攻撃性、そして“Eternal Quest”のドラマ性まで、スピード感のある曲では、大合唱を誘うサビが、確かな解放感を生み、ミドルテンポの曲では、リフの重量と、物語性とが際立っている。“Stand Up and Fight”“Heroes Ascending”のような曲も、作品の充実を伝えている。 アレンジは、過度に複雑化することなく、各パートが、主題を、力強く繰り返すことで、アルバム全体に、揺るぎない、確かな芯が通っている点が本作の魅力だ。宇宙戦争や、機械文明を想起させるイメージを背景に置きながらも、最後に強く残るのは、歌えるメロディと、拳を上げたくなるビートである。IRON SAVIORの美点を、純度高く示す、力強く聴き応えのあるパワー・メタル作品と言える。

Kill or Get Killed is a work on which Iron Savior beautifully pulls together a sci-fi world, hard, steel-like riffs and valiant big choruses into one powerful drive. Over machine-precise rhythm evoking mechanical operation, the guitar moves between hard chopping and lift-filled leads, pushing the songs forward. The sound is heavy but by no means dull, and with low-end pressure and rising melody coexisting, it firmly keeps a futuristic yet classic heavy-metal feel. From the power of the opening title track “Kill or Get Killed” and the aggression of “Roaring Thunder” to the drama of “Eternal Quest,” in speed-filled songs choruses that invite a big sing-along generate a sure release, and in mid-tempo songs the riffs’ weight and narrative stand out, while cuts like “Stand Up and Fight” and “Heroes Ascending” convey the work’s fullness. Its appeal is that the arrangement, without becoming overly complex, has each part powerfully repeat the theme, so an unshakable, sure core runs through the whole album. While placing images evoking cosmic war and mechanical civilization in the background, what strongly remains at the end is singable melody and a fist-raising beat.
