『Chasing Euphoria』は、HAREM SCAREMらしい洗練された音作りと、滑らかな楽曲の流れを軸に、円熟したバンドの確かな個性を、改めて確認できる2025年の作品だ。派手な代表曲だけに耳を奪われるのではなく、音の重心、コーラスの巧みな置き方、そして曲間の自然な流れを追っていくと、アルバム全体としての、豊かで統一された表情が、はっきりと見えてくる。長いキャリアの、充実を示す一枚である。 冒頭の表題曲“Chasing Euphoria”の力強い推進力、流れを大きく変える“In A Bad Way”、そして終盤の叙情的な“Wasted Years”を追っていくと、曲ごとの役割と、微妙な温度差が、実に見えやすい構成になっている。ハリー・ヘスの円熟した歌声と、ピート・レスペランスの緻密なギターの相性は、この時期も全く衰えを見せず、抜群の安定感を誇っている。 長い活動歴を経てもなお、バンドが得意とするメロディック・ハード・ロックの質を、少しも落とすことなく、力強く鳴らし続けている点に、本作の大きな価値がある。ベテランならではの、確かな職人技と、洗練されたメロディ・センスが全編にみなぎる一枚だ。ディスコグラフィ全体の流れの中でも、その充実ぶりが際立つ、力強く円熟したメロディック・ロック作品と言える。

Chasing Euphoria is a 2025 work on which, around Harem Scarem’s refined production and smooth flow of songs, the sure character of the mature band can be reaffirmed. Rather than being caught by flashy signature songs alone, following the sonic center, the deft placement of choruses and the natural flow between songs, a rich, unified expression as a whole album comes clearly into view. A record showing the fullness of a long career. Following the powerful drive of the opening title track “Chasing Euphoria,” the greatly flow-changing “In A Bad Way” and the lyrical “Wasted Years” toward the end, it is built so that each song’s role and subtle differences of temperature are easy to see. The compatibility of Harry Hess’s mature voice and Pete Lesperance’s precise guitar shows no decline in this period either, boasting superb steadiness. Its great value lies in how, even after a long career, the band keeps powerfully sounding the quality of the melodic hard rock it does best without lowering it in the least. A record filled throughout with a veteran’s sure craft and refined melodic sense. Standing out for its fullness even within the flow of the whole discography, it is a powerful, mature melodic-rock work.
