『Force Majeure』は、初代ヴォーカリスト、ケニー・レクレモが復帰して制作されたH.E.A.Tの第7作だ。2010年の『Freedom Rock』以来となる彼の歌声を軸に、バンドは疾走感と大合唱を全開にした再始動作を作り上げた。earMUSICからリリースされた本作は、音楽面だけでなく、ミュージック・ビデオやアートワークにまたがる「H.E.A.T City」という架空世界の演出でも、バンドの新たな野心を示している。硬質なリフときらめく鍵盤、レクレモの伸びやかな歌が結び付き、力強くも明朗な魅力を放つ。 先行シングル“Nationwide”“Back to the Rhythm”は、いずれも強靭なフックを備えた代表曲だ。“Hollywood”“Tainted Blood”では、攻撃性とメロディが鮮やかに交差する。“Demon Eyes”“Harder to Breathe”では、疾走感と重量感が心地よく同居する。“Wings of an Aeroplane”まで、勢いと親しみやすさの均衡が全編で保たれている。長い活動歴とヴォーカリストの交代を経てなお、バンドの創作意欲は少しも衰えていない。初期の明朗さを取り戻しつつ、現代的な音圧で磨き上げた、力強い再出発の一枚である。

Force Majeure is the seventh album by H.E.A.T, made with the return of original vocalist Kenny Leckremo. Built around his voice for the first time since 2010's Freedom Rock, the band crafted a relaunch that opens up drive and singalong choruses to full. Released on earMUSIC, it shows the band's new ambition not only musically but through the staging of a fictional world, “H.E.A.T City,” spanning music videos and artwork. Firm riffs, glittering keyboards and Leckremo's soaring voice combine for a forceful yet bright appeal. The lead singles “Nationwide” and “Back to the Rhythm” are both signature songs with robust hooks. On “Hollywood” and “Tainted Blood,” aggression and melody cross vividly. Through to “Wings of an Aeroplane,” the balance of drive and accessibility holds throughout. Even after a long career and a change of vocalist, the band's creative drive has not faded in the slightest. Recovering its early brightness while polishing it with modern impact, it is a powerful fresh start.
