『Brotherhood』は、FMが英国AORの品の良さと、メロディック・ハード・ロックのしなやかな推進力を軸に磨き上げた、2025年の作品だ。ギターとキーボードは曲の空気を丁寧に整え、リズムは派手過ぎず安定した流れを生み出している。温かく表情豊かなスティーヴ・オーヴァーランドの歌が中心にあり、タイトルに込められた結束感を自然に伝えている。 “Do You Mean It”“Living On The Run”“Coming For You”“Because Of You”といった楽曲では、大げさな仕掛けよりも、良いメロディを長く聴かせるための余白とコーラスの配置が光っている。“Just Walk Away”“The Enemy Within”のような楽曲にも、バンドらしい端正な叙情が息づいている。“Raised On The Wrong Side”“Love Comes To All”“Don't Call It Love”“Chasing Freedom”といった楽曲でも、端正なメロディと洗練された演奏が結び付いている。デビューから約40年を経てなお、その品の良さと創作力は少しも衰えていない。サビの即効性だけでなく、ヴァースやブリッジで生まれる落ち着いた陰影にも味わいがある。派手さではなく持続力で魅了する本作は、長いキャリアを経てなお高い水準を保つ、FMらしい成熟したメロディック・ロック作品である。

Brotherhood is a 2025 record on which FM refined its music around the refinement of British AOR and the supple drive of melodic hard rock. The guitar and keyboards carefully set the songs’ atmosphere, and the rhythm generates a stable flow that is not overly flashy. Steve Overland’s warm, expressive singing is at the center, naturally conveying the sense of unity in the title. On “Do You Mean It,” “Living On The Run,” “Coming For You” and “Because Of You,” the placement of space and choruses to let good melody play long shines over grandiose devices. Songs like “Just Walk Away” and “The Enemy Within” breathe the band’s neat lyricism too. There is flavor not only in the immediacy of the choruses but in the calm shadow that arises in the verses and bridges. Captivating through staying power rather than flash, it is a mature FM melodic-rock work that keeps a high standard even after a long career.
