『Game Of Faces』は、Nuclear Blastへ移籍して発表された第9作で、モダンな音像と高揚するコーラスによってDYNAZTYのメロディック・メタルを更新した一枚だ。ミックスはイェンス・ボグレンが手掛け、バンド自身のプロデュースと結び付くことで、硬質でありながら見通しの良い音像を実現している。制作にあたっては、AMARANTHEのエリーゼ・リードやリンネア・ヴィークストレム・エッグがゲスト・ヴォーカルとして参加し、楽曲に厚みと彩りを加えた。長い活動歴を経てなお、バンドの創作意欲は少しも衰えていない。 先行シングル“Call of the Night”が鋭く幕を開け、表題曲“Game of Faces”“Devilry of Ecstasy”が疾走感と巨大なフックで畳み掛ける。“Fortune Favors the Brave”“Phoenix”では、劇的なメロディと構築の妙が高い次元で噛み合う。速さと重さに頼り切らず、フックの強さとアレンジの緻密さで最後まで緊張感を保つ姿勢は、モダン期のDYNAZTYを貫く美点だ。ニルス・モーリンの伸びやかな歌唱が全体を鮮やかにまとめ、新たなレーベルでの力強い一歩を刻んでいる。

Game of Faces is the ninth album, released after moving to Nuclear Blast, a record that updates Dynazty's melodic metal through a modern soundstage and soaring choruses. Mixed by Jens Bogren and joined with the band's own production, it achieves a sound that is firm yet clear. For the sessions, Amaranthe's Elize Ryd and Linnéa Vikström Egg contributed guest vocals, adding depth and color to the songs. Even after a long career, the band's creative drive has not faded in the slightest. The lead single “Call of the Night” opens sharply, and the title track “Game of Faces” and “Devilry of Ecstasy” press on with drive and huge hooks. On “Fortune Favors the Brave” and “Phoenix,” dramatic melody and clever construction mesh at a high level. An approach that keeps tension to the end through strong hooks and detailed arrangement, rather than relying wholly on speed and weight, is a virtue running through modern-era Dynazty. Nils Molin's soaring singing pulls the whole together vividly, marking a strong first step on the new label.
