Bring the Thunder

『Bring the Thunder』は、ストックホルムで結成されたDYNAZTYが、プロデューサーにクリス・レイニーを迎え、名門ポラール・スタジオで録音したデビュー作だ。この時期の彼らは、後年のモダンなメロディック・メタルとは大きく異なり、1980年代のハード・ロックやグラム／スリーズの語法を土台にしていた。キーボードよりもギターが主導し、ジョン・バーグとロヴ・マグヌッソンのツイン・ギター、ジョエル・フォックス・アペルグレンのベースが、若さと勢いに満ちた直球のロックンロールを鳴らす。後のDYNAZTYを知るうえでの出発点として重要な一枚である。 疾走する表題曲“Bring the Thunder”や“Catch the Night”は、荒削りながらキャッチーなフックを備え、“Lights Out (In Candyland)”“Adrenaline”はライブ映えするノリの良さを持つ。“The Devil's Shake”のような楽曲には、後年へと繋がる劇的な要素も垣間見える。技巧や重量ではなく、勢いとメロディの親しみやすさで押し切る作風は、まだ発展途上ながら確かな魅力を放つ。ニルス・モーリンの伸びやかな声はこの時点で既に光っており、バンドの核となる資質を刻んでいる。

Bring the Thunder is the debut album by Dynazty, the Stockholm band, recorded at the storied Polar Studios with producer Chris Laney. At this stage they were far removed from the modern melodic metal of their later years, building instead on the language of 1980s hard rock and glam/sleaze. Guitars lead rather than keyboards: the twin guitars of John Berg and Rob Love Magnusson and the bass of Joel Fox Apelgren drive a direct rock and roll full of youth and momentum. It matters as a starting point for understanding the Dynazty to come. The racing title track “Bring the Thunder” and “Catch the Night” are rough but carry catchy hooks, while “Lights Out (In Candyland)” and “Adrenaline” have a live-ready swing. Songs like “The Devil's Shake” hint at the dramatic elements that would grow later. A style that wins through momentum and melodic accessibility rather than technique or weight, it is still developing but has real charm. Nils Molin's soaring voice already stands out here, marking the quality that would become the band's core.
