Forever Wild

『Forever Wild』は、大合唱コーラスと映画的なフックで、CRAZY LIXXが80年代型ハード・ロックを磨き上げた第6作だ。前作『Ruff Justice』で確立した路線を受け継ぎつつ、ハード・ロックからAORまで、これまでで最も幅広いスタイルを取り入れている。プロデュースはダニー・レクソンとChris Laneyが手掛けた。レクソンによれば、バンドの歴史上初めて、全メンバーがほぼ同じ環境・スタジオ・機材のもとで録音した作品だという。前作からの自然な発展形と位置づけられている。 冒頭のアンセム“Wicked”や、ビデオも制作された“Break Out”“Silent Thunder”まで、粒ぞろいの楽曲が並ぶ。BON JOVIやDEF LEPPARD、WARRANTを思わせる、伸びやかなメロディが全編を彩る。2016年に固まった現在の布陣が、バンドの理想に最も近い音を鳴らしている。夏のフェスティバルによく映える、開放的で快活な雰囲気も本作の魅力だ。6分を超える大曲“Eagle”では、これまでにないほど壮大な一面も見せている。円熟したソングライティングが光る、充実の一枚である。

Forever Wild is Crazy Lixx's sixth album, on which they honed 80s-style hard rock with sing-along choruses and cinematic hooks. Carrying over the direction established on the previous Ruff Justice, they took in their widest range of styles yet, from hard rock to AOR. Production was handled by Danny Rexon and Chris Laney. According to Rexon, it was the first time in the band's history that all members recorded under roughly the same conditions, studios and equipment, positioned as a natural progression from its predecessor. From the opening anthem "Wicked" to "Break Out" and "Silent Thunder," which got videos, well-matched songs line up. Soaring melodies reminiscent of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and Warrant color the whole record. The current lineup, settled in 2016, sounds closest to the band's ideal. An open, upbeat feel well suited to summer festivals is another of the album's charms. On the over-six-minute "Eagle," they show a grander side than before. An accomplished record where mature songwriting shines.
