『Order of the Black』は、ザック・ワイルドの太いギター・リフ、重いグルーヴ、ブルージーな歌心を前面に押し出した、BLACK LABEL SOCIETYらしい作品だ。数年の充電期間を経て、バンドは自らの得意とする重量級のサウンドへと立ち返っている。ヘヴィな曲の圧力と、ピアノやアコースティックがつくる陰影が交互に現れ、音楽に深さを与えている。 “Crazy Horse”“Overlord”“Parade of the Dead”“Godspeed Hellbound”といった楽曲では、攻撃的なリフと重いグルーヴが圧倒的な迫力を生んでいる。“Time Waits for No One”“January”のような楽曲には、叙情的なメロディと哀感が宿っている。“Black Sunday”“Southern Dissolution”“Shallow Grave”といった楽曲にも、攻撃的なリフと哀感が同居している。約4年ぶりとなる本作で、バンドは自らの原点である重量級のヘヴィ・メタルへと力強く回帰し、ザック・ワイルドの創造力の充実を示している。力で押すだけではない、リフの余韻とメロディの哀愁にも耳を傾けたい。ヘヴィネスと歌心を高い次元で両立させた本作は、復活したBLACK LABEL SOCIETYの充実を伝える、力強い一枚である。

Order of the Black is a BLACK LABEL SOCIETY–style work that foregrounds Zakk Wylde’s thick guitar riffs, heavy groove and bluesy melodic sense. After a few years of recharging, the band returns to the heavy sound it excels at. The pressure of heavy songs and the shadow made by piano and acoustics appear in turn, giving the music depth. On “Crazy Horse,” “Overlord,” “Parade of the Dead” and “Godspeed Hellbound,” aggressive riffs and heavy groove generate overwhelming force. Songs like “Time Waits for No One” and “January” hold lyrical melody and melancholy. It is worth listening to the afterglow of the riffs and the melancholy of the melody, not only forceful pushing. Balancing heaviness and melodic sense at a high level, it is a powerful record conveying the fullness of a revived BLACK LABEL SOCIETY.
