『Doom Crew Inc.』は、ザック・ワイルドの太く粘るギター・リフ、南部ロック由来のブルース感、そして重く沈むグルーヴをたっぷりと詰め込んだ、BLACK LABEL SOCIETYの11作目だ。速さだけで攻めるのではなく、リフの余韻や歌の節回しを使って、曲にどっしりとした存在感を与えている。長いキャリアを経てもなお、バンドの重量級のサウンドは少しも衰えていない。 “Set You Free”“Destroy & Conquer”“You Made Me Want To Live”“End of Days”といった楽曲では、ヘヴィな曲と叙情的な場面が同居している。ギター・ヒーロー的なソロも曲の流れから浮くことなく、全体に自然に溶け込んでいる。“Forever and a Day”“Farewell Ballad”のような楽曲には、内省的な哀感も宿る。“Ruins”“Forsaken”“Gospel of Lies”といった楽曲にも、重量感と叙情が同居している。バンド名を冠したタイトルには長年ザックを支えてきた仲間たちへの思いも込められているのかもしれず、ベテラン・バンドの円熟した重さを示す一枚となっている。アルバム全体を通して感じられるのは、技巧よりも“手触りのある重さ”である。ザック・ワイルドの個性を一枚で存分に味わえる、充実した作品である。

Doom Crew Inc. is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY’s eleventh album, packed full of Zakk Wylde’s thick, tenacious guitar riffs, Southern-rock-derived blues feel and heavily sinking groove. Rather than attacking with speed alone, it gives the songs a solid presence using the afterglow of the riffs and the phrasing of the singing. Even after a long career, the band’s heavy sound has not dimmed in the least. On “Set You Free,” “Destroy & Conquer,” “You Made Me Want To Live” and “End of Days,” heavy songs and lyrical passages coexist. The guitar-hero solos never float out of the songs’ flow, blending in naturally. Songs like “Forever and a Day” and “Farewell Ballad” hold an introspective melancholy too. What is felt across the whole album is a “tactile weight” over technique. It is a full work for fully savoring Zakk Wylde’s personality in a single record.
