『Aurora Consurgens』は、ANGRAが変則的なリズム、緻密なギター、エドゥ・ファラスキの表情豊かな歌を使い、プログレッシヴ・パワー・メタルの緊張と叙情を描いた作品だ。曲は複雑に動くが、南米的なリズム感と大きなメロディが常に中心にある。人間の心理をテーマにした、内省的な一枚である。 “The Course of Nature”“Ego Painted Grey”“Salvation: Suicide”といった楽曲では、前作から続く内省的な空気はより濃く、静かな場面と激しい場面の落差が印象を残す。“The Voice Commanding You”“Scream Your Heart Out”のような楽曲にも、バンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。本作はこれまでのANGRA作品の中でも特に暗く複雑な作風で知られており、“Breaking Ties”“Window to Nowhere”“Abandoned Fate”のような楽曲にもバンドの充実した演奏が息づいている。疾走感よりも変拍子や緊張感のあるアレンジが前面に出た、プログレッシヴ・メタルとしての側面が強い一枚だ。ユング心理学に着想を得た、ダークで哲学的な世界観も特徴だ。技巧と感情を同じ重さで扱った、成熟期ANGRAの一枚である。

Aurora Consurgens is a work on which ANGRA, using irregular rhythm, dense guitar and Edu Falaschi’s expressive singing, drew the tension and lyricism of progressive power metal. The songs move complexly, but South American rhythmic feel and large melody are always at the center. Themed on human psychology, it is an introspective record. On “The Course of Nature,” “Ego Painted Grey” and “Salvation: Suicide,” the introspective air continuing from the previous album is denser, and the gap between quiet scenes and fierce scenes leaves an impression. Songs like “The Voice Commanding You” and “Scream Your Heart Out” breathe the band’s full playing too. A dark, philosophical worldview inspired by Jungian psychology is also a feature. Treating technique and emotion with the same weight, it is a record of ANGRA’s mature period.
