Under the Red Cloud gathers Amorphis’s heavy riffs, Nordic melody and folk-like color into dense melodic metal. The exchange between clean vocals and growls is more than a change of force: it deepens story and shadow. Hard rhythm guitar and flowing lead work meet keyboards that constantly alter the atmosphere, while the rhythm section leaves room for melodies to rise. The record does not treat heaviness and lyricism as opposites. A low, heavy passage can give way to mournful melody, and a softer vocal moment can be answered by a returning riff. That movement makes the album feel like a long-form journey. Complex details never erase the central hooks; keyboards, guitar melody and grounded rhythm continually support one another.
