Zilqy Make Their J-MELO Debut On NHK WORLD-JAPAN — Four Airings Across October 4 And 5

On September 24, Zilqy announced on their official site that they will appear on J-MELO, the music programme on NHK WORLD-JAPAN, for the first time. The show carries their performance of "RUN" along with an interview, across four airings on October 4 and 5 — four times within 24 hours, the band says, to cover time zones abroad. J-MELO exists to bring Japanese music to listeners around the world, and the broadcast lands three days before the band's first full album, Birth of Riot, arrives on October 7.

Four airings in 24 hours, catch-up until December 4

The airings are at 11:10 and 19:10 on Sunday, October 4, and at 0:10 and 6:10 on Monday, October 5, all in Japan time. The official announcement says the four airings are spread within 24 hours to cover time zones abroad.

In Japan the simulcast can be watched on the NHK WORLD-JAPAN site. The programme's own page carries catch-up streaming for two months, from October 4 to December 4, and it also airs on cable.

"RUN" comes from the album due October 7

"RUN", the song the programme carries, is the third advance track from Birth of Riot, the band's first full album, out on October 7. It went up for streaming on September 16 and has a music video of its own. It follows "World's End" and "CAVEAT" as the third song released ahead of the album.

The album is set to hold ten tracks and comes in two editions: a limited edition (DCCA-182, 8,800 yen incl. tax) in an LP-sized sleeve with a 24-page booklet, sold only through MAVERICK STORE, and a standard edition (DCCA-183, 3,630 yen incl. tax) through record shops. Release events at Tower Records and MAVERICK STORE have been announced, with details to follow.

A name that started travelling this summer

Zilqy's name has been turning up in overseas media since the summer. On August 16, "World's End" was picked for Tracks Of The Week by the British metal magazine Metal Hammer — a weekly feature in which the editors put forward ten notable new songs and readers vote for the best of them. The piece also carried the editors' own write-up of the song.

On the same day, "World's End" entered The Kerrang! Chart: The best new music this week at number 19. Then on August 28 the band announced the cover and a 28-page lead feature in the October issue of BURRN!, published September 4 — a cover taken, in the official site's words, before the band had been active a full year, built from individual interviews with every member and photography shot for the feature.

The J-MELO debut follows all of that, on a programme whose stated purpose is to carry Japanese music to listeners around the world.
