REBOOT, a year ago: the restart after a change of singer
REBOOT was the one-man show KOIAI played at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall in Tokyo on Saturday, November 22, 2025. According to the band's official profile, KOIAI sold out a 1,000-capacity headline show in Japan in March 2025, after which their original singer, Kotono, left for health reasons. The European tour that summer and a show in Singapore went ahead with a support vocalist, and in November Mirei Sakurada joined as the new singer and the band started again.
In an interview Gekirock published in July, the guitarist Hazuki said the band had met Mirei Sakurada at an audition and chose her unanimously. The bassist Yunika Impact played REBOOT as a support member and became a full member in March 2026, which settled the five-piece of Mirei Sakurada (vocals), Li-sa-X (guitar), Hazuki (guitar), Yunika Impact (bass) and Kanade Sato (drums).
In comments released with the anniversary announcement, Li-sa-X looked back on REBOOT as the first time the current five had shared a stage, and said the year since had gone into making an EP together and playing overseas and on a tour of Japan.
The year since: an EP, a tour and a live Blu-ray
The new line-up's first release was the fourth EP, Starting Over, on July 15, 2026. Its title track came out as a digital single on June 3 and was picked as the August ending theme of Nippon TV's DayDay.
Five days after the EP, the KOIAI LIVE TOUR 2026 "Starting Over" opened at Music Club JANUS in Osaka on July 20, then went on to Sendai, Tokyo, Fukuoka and Nagoya. The Tokyo date, July 31 at Meijiza, doubled as Day 1 of Heavy Kawaii Fes 2026.
That Meijiza show is now a live Blu-ray, KOIAI LIVE TOUR 2026 "Starting Over" in TOKYO -HEAVY KAWAII FES 2026-, out on Wednesday, October 28. It holds 21 songs; the limited first edition (FRMT-010, 9,500 yen including tax) adds a 48-page B5 photo book, and the standard edition (FRMT-011) costs 7,500 yen including tax.
Before November 21
There is plenty before then. On Sunday, October 25, Yokohama Bay Hall hosts a release event, KOIAI LIVE TOUR 2026 "Starting Over" in TOKYO Release Event -Talk & Live-, with Ken Ayugai as guest MC and the Blu-ray on sale ahead of its general release. On Friday, November 6, the band play BUZZ RHYTHM LIVE 2026 at Yokohama Arena, and Tower Records holds signing sessions for the Blu-ray at its Nagoya PARCO store on Tuesday, November 10 and its Abeno Hoop store in Osaka on Wednesday, November 11.
