Liner Notes
World on Fire is the eighteenth album, on which Yngwie Malmsteen carried through the neoclassical metal aesthetic he had established with dense guitar work. Continuing from the previous album, he himself handles guitar, bass and vocals. High-speed arpeggios, classical melody and layered riffs create a gorgeous, aggressive scenery for each song.
Here he does not hide that the guitar is the lead. Yet it does not end in speed alone; melodic elation and dramatic chord progressions like "Sorcery" and "No Rest for the Wicked" give the songs their own drama. On the instrumentals "Largo" and "Nacht Musik," his classical grounding quietly lives. A record concentrating characteristically Yngwie qualities, answering precisely when you want to enjoy an excess of stylistic beauty.
