Liner Notes
Reinventions is Wigelius's debut, released by Frontiers in 2012. The band came together in late 2011 around the brothers Anders Wigelius (vocals) and Erik Wigelius (drums), after an appearance by Anders on a Swedish television show set a record deal in motion. The aim was plain enough: to play the 1980s rock they had grown up loving — Journey, Bon Jovi — in a modern sound. The four-piece was completed by Jakob Svensson on guitar and Chris Pettersson on bass, and together they assembled twelve songs across 46 minutes.
From the springing entrance of "Angeline" into "Talking About Love" and "Do You Really Know," keyboards and voice stay forward and the pace never drops. "Next to Me" and "My Cassandra" form the core; "Piece of the Action" and "Too Young to Fall in Love" carry the momentum on, and the restrained "There Is No Me Without You" gives way to "I Reach Out" at the close. For a first album the construction is unusually assured, and the AOR audience responded at once. There is a reason for that polish: the Wigelius brothers are writers and players with a studio of their own, and they would go on to become one of the busiest songwriting teams in Europe.
