Restless Heart: Super Deluxe Edition marks twenty-five years of the WHITESNAKE album released in 1997, on four CDs and a DVD. Rhino issued it on 29 October 2021, and Warner Music Japan followed with this first-run Japanese edition, WPZR-30921/5, on 29 December. David Coverdale began it in 1995 as his third solo album; at the label's insistence it came out in 1997 as David Coverdale & Whitesnake. It was a UK top-forty hit but was never released in America, and this reissue was its first American release.
The first CD is the 2021 remix, aimed at the sound Coverdale first intended for a solo record and in a new running order. The second is the 1997 album remastered, with "Anything You Want" and "Can't Stop Now" from its original Japanese edition and "Too Many Tears '95". The third, Dancing on the Titanic, and the fourth, Evolutions, follow every song from its early pre-production versions to later takes, the third ending with the unreleased demo "Snakes Down South". The DVD has videos, three songs from Starkers in Tokyo, the 1997 acoustic live album first released only in Japan, and The Making of Restless Heart with new interviews with Coverdale. The Japanese edition is on SHM-CD with notes, the lyrics in translation, Japanese subtitles for the interviews and a sticker sheet made for Japan. The CDs carry 59 tracks.
