Liner Notes
Under the Influence is a strongly project-oriented covers album on which WARRANT translated various originals into their own sound. Rock classics of old are reborn in the band’s own interpretation. Rather than a mere selection of songs, it is a record that is interesting to hear for how they replace outside songs with their own spacing, voice and guitar sound.
Rather than relying on the fame of the originals, the band’s character clearly emerges in the push of the rhythm, the thickness of the choruses and the air around the solos. Jani Lane’s voice pulls any original into WARRANT’s world. Though a project album outside the flow of their signature works, an artist’s aesthetic well appears in the way of interpretation. It is an intriguing record on which a new side of the band can be enjoyed.
