5150 (Expanded Edition)

5150 (Expanded Edition) is the fortieth-anniversary set built around Van Halen's seventh studio album, released in 1986. The original was the first record made with Sammy Hagar singing, the band's first American number one, and it reached number 4 in Japan. The first CD and the LP carry the album itself, remastered from the original master tapes under the supervision of Donn Landee, the band's longtime engineer. The second CD collects single edits, twelve-inch extended versions and live tracks. The third brings thirteen previously unreleased live recordings made at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New Haven, Connecticut, on 27 August 1986. The Blu-ray presents the concert film shot that same night, Live Without a Net, in high definition for the first time, and according to Rhino it also holds the promo videos for "Dreams" and "Why Can't This Be Love". Rhino released the LP/3CD/Blu-ray set on 27 March 2026, days after the album turned forty. Warner Music Japan followed on 8 April with a strictly limited Japanese version of the import, WPZR-31100/4, adding a Japanese booklet of notes, lyrics and translations. The extended versions of "Why Can't This Be Love" and "Dreams" are on YouTube as label-supplied audio.
