LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Misdemeanor, UFO's twelfth studio album, was released by Chrysalis in November 1985 (LP CHR 1518, cassette ZCHR 1518). It was the first UFO studio album since the members had gone their separate ways in 1983, made by a new line-up around Phil Mogg: the sleeve credits Atomik Tommy M on guitar, Paul Gray on bass, Paul Raymond on keyboards and guitar and Jim Simpson on drums. Gray had come from the Damned and Simpson from Magnum, while Raymond was back for the first time since Neil Carter had taken his place on The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent; neither Pete Way nor Andy Parker took part. Nick Tauber produced it, with Jon Jacobs engineering and mixing. Chrysalis advertised the new album and cassette alongside a British tour of sixteen dates, from Exeter University on 12 November to the Hammersmith Odeon in London on 30 November. The album entered the UK chart in the week of 16 November 1985 and peaked at 74, and "Night Run" reached 94 on the singles chart in March 1986. The American edition followed in 1986: it entered the Billboard 200 on 5 April and peaked at 106 on 3 May. Four of the five, Mogg, Atomik Tommy M, Gray and Simpson, went on to record the 1988 EP Ain't Misbehavin', the last record Mogg made with Atomik Tommy M. It was 1991 before Mogg and the returning Way put UFO back together for good, and Louder's guide to the band files the years from 1983 under fractured, unfamiliar line-ups and short-lived reunions. A 2009 remaster added "The Chase" and six US remixes, among them "Night Run" and "This Time".
