Twin Temple (Bring You Their Signature Sound.... Satanic Doo-Wop)

This is the first album by the American duo of Alexandra and Zachary James, a married couple. They made it themselves and it appeared digitally on 13 July 2018, with Rise Above Records handling the CD. They call what they do Satanic doo-wop. What it draws on is American rock and roll of the 1950s and 1960s -- The Platters, Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly are the names usually given -- and Alexandra's singing has been compared to Amy Winehouse and Ronnie Spector. The Satanism the two of them practise goes straight into the lyrics, and the gap between the form and the subject is the record itself. It was recorded live and in mono to get closer to the sound of that period. By Alexandra's account the whole thing took a day and a half, each song cut in two or three takes with the best of them kept. After it, the pair opened for Ghost from the 28 September 2019 show at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah, and did the same on the North American Imperatour and the British and European dates in 2022. Their first headlining tour came in October 2022. The order here is the ten-track digital release; the CD adds "Satanic Initiation Ritual" for eleven.
