Delirium Veil
LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Delirium Veil is the debut, released by Spinefarm in 2003. The band formed in Imatra, Finland, in 1998. At first Tommi Sartanen sang as well as playing guitar, with Ville Wallenius on the other guitar, Jussi Kainulainen on bass and Juha Leskinen on drums. Keyboard player Mikko Naukkarinen joined after the first demo in 1999, and only after a second demo in 2001 did they get a dedicated singer in Heikki Pöyhiä. The third demo, cut by that line-up, was called "Return to Innocence" — the same name as track five here. The demo survived into the record.
They signed to Spinefarm in November 2001 and recorded in September 2002 at Anssi Kippo's Astia Studio, with Kippo producing and engineering. Timo Tolkki mixed it at Finnvox — the man from Stratovarius himself. That the result drew comparisons to Edguy, Stratovarius and Sonata Arctica was, in that light, not entirely a surprise. The Japanese edition adds two songs, "The Escapist" and "Affection Seeker."
