A Farewell to Arms

LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
A Farewell to Arms is a record on which TNT layered beautiful vocal melody, delicate and flamboyant guitar, and translucent keyboards. Around Tony Mills’ expressive voice, while keeping a hard-rock outline, the songs advance with the beauty of melody and the sway of emotion as the top priority. It is striking that Ronni Le Tekrø’s technical guitar never crowds out the singing but rather functions to widen the afterglow of the melody. On “Engine,” “Refugee,” “Ship in the Night” and “A Farewell to Arms,” strong rock drive and delicate lyricism join tightly, giving the album rich expression. A dynamic song like “Barracuda,” and the Norwegian-language “God Natt, Marie,” show a wide range that is part of the record’s appeal too. Reflecting the maturity that Mills-era TNT reached, it is a flavorful record on which beautiful melody and firm musicianship crystallize at a high level.
