Head Off

The seventh album was released by Wild Kingdom on 18 April 2008. Chips Kiesbye produced, Henrik Lipp engineered and Stefan Boman mixed. All twelve songs are covers. On 12 October 2007 the band had announced that they would break up after releasing it, saying the reason was to stop while they were still at their best rather than any trouble inside the band. That it was a covers record was not announced at first — it was presented as an ordinary studio album so that listeners would come to it without expectations — and Kenny Hakansson said he liked the idea that it would send people towards bands they could go on listening to afterwards. The twelve acts covered are Demons, The Peepshows, The Humpers, The Turpentines, The Robots, New Bomb Turks, The Maharajas, Asteroid B-612, Dead Moon, The Bellrays, Gaza Strippers and The Royal Cream. The album reached number four in Sweden and the top twenty in Finland and Norway. The last Hellacopters concerts were played at Debaser Medis in Stockholm on 25 and 26 October that year.
