To Hell With the Amps

To Hell With the Amps is an eleven-track acoustic reworking of catalogue songs — "Loud & Clear," "Soldiers Under Command" and "Honestly" among them — plus a previously unreleased Stryper version of the hymn "Amazing Grace." Michael Sweet produced; Danny Bernini recorded and engineered it at Spirithouse Studios. It came out in stages, and not on Frontiers: it went through the band's own Stryper Recording, distributed worldwide by Flatiron Recordings. The band's official date list gives 7 June 2024, while the digital release came earlier on 10 May, CD and cassette followed on 19 July, and Blu-ray, DVD and vinyl after that. It was also the first Stryper album made available in Dolby Atmos. Sweet has said the acoustic record had been in the works for more than seven years, and that many of the songs were written on acoustic guitar to begin with. In January 2024 he announced that the band's fortieth-anniversary year would carry two albums — this one and an electric studio record later on.
