Murder by Pride

Murder by Pride arrived on 21 July 2009 through Big3 Records, produced by Michael Sweet and Danny Bernini. The date fell exactly twenty-five years after the debut EP. It sold 5,900 copies in the United States in its first week and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 73. Among the tracks is a cover of Boston's "Peace of Mind," with Boston's own Tom Scholz playing a guest guitar part on it. Michael Sweet took the album's title from watching pride wreck people's ambitions and their lives, and wrote the lyric as a standing reminder of it. On the twenty-fifth-anniversary tour that followed, the band played two sets a night — the new material with Tracy Ferrie on bass, then a set of older songs with all four original members, Tim Gaines included.
