LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the ninth studio album, released on Epic on 24 June 2016; the CD followed on 7 July 2017 as Favored Nations FN2930, thirteen tracks.
The material is old. According to Vai's own website the album is based on song sketches and works-in-progress he wrote and recorded just after Flex-Able, his debut, came out in January 1984. He sees the music as a link between Flex-Able and Passion and Warfare of 1990, two records that sound very little alike; the title refers to his modern finishing of his oldest and most primitive work, written when he was in his mid-twenties.
It was issued alongside the 25th Anniversary Edition of Passion and Warfare. A Spotify entity for the album exists, but every one of its thirteen tracks reads as unplayable from Japan, so this page leads with the sleeve rather than a player. The running order here is the CD edition's, FN2930, as printed.
