Bombenhagel

"Bombenhagel" first appeared on Persecution Mania in 1987. In 2021 Tom Angelripper wanted the old song on record by the band as it now stood, with Toni Merkel on drums and two guitarists, and Sodom recorded it again in a new arrangement. Harris Johns, who had produced the 1987 version, plays a guitar solo on the remake; according to Angelripper, it was Johns who all but insisted on contributing one, and Angelripper has said that without him Sodom would not be where it is today. Two new songs follow the remake, "Coup de Grace" and "Pestiferous Posse". The line-up is Angelripper on bass and vocals, Frank Blackfire and Yorck Segatz on guitars and Merkel on drums. According to the credits, the EP was recorded at Staudio-Studios in Altenessen, Essen, in March 2021 and produced by the band, with Merkel and Segatz engineering and Merkel mixing. Steamhammer/SPV announced the EP in May 2021 and released it on 20 August on CD, 12-inch vinyl and as a download. It had been meant for the summer festival season, with a sticker listing the confirmed tour dates, but with most festivals pushed back to 2022 Angelripper decided to put it out anyway, to show the fans that the band was still there. In Japan, Marquee added the three songs as bonus tracks to the Special Edition of Genesis XIX released on 25 August 2021.
