Liner Notes
The End, So Far is a record on which Slipknot depict the feeling of an ending from many angles, crossing heaviness with experimentation. As their last album under their contract with Roadrunner, the band takes on a more varied and free style than ever. While centered on heavy aggression, it is a wide-ranging record that boldly takes in electronic sound and melodic developments. The album was also made against the unusual backdrop of the pandemic. More than their previous albums, it attempts a structure rich in dynamics and shifts of pace.
Varied songs like "The Dying Song (Time to Sing)," "Yen" and "The Chapeltown Rag" line up. From ferocious songs to lyrical, open ones, its range is wide. It shows a band that has run at the forefront for many years still exploring new expression. An ambitious work of their mature period, where experiment and weight coexist. As the title suggests, it marked a kind of end to their long tenure on Roadrunner. But the band's journey would continue beyond it. More than twenty years on, it quietly proves that Slipknot remain one of a kind.
