The Cloud of Unknowing came out on 24 April 2026 on Nuclear Blast, with Ward Records issuing the Japanese edition on 10 July as GQCS-91769, with a Japanese commentary booklet and translated lyrics. Four songs, about sixteen and a half minutes.
The band announced in December 2023 that they were ending, and began a two-year farewell tour in March 2024; this is the last studio record they made. Stanley Soares produced it, the first time the band had worked with him since A-Lex in 2009.
It is also the only studio recording by Greyson Nekrutman, who took over on drums in 2024 after Eloy Casagrande left. The line-up is Derrick Green on vocals, Andreas Kisser on guitar, Paulo Jr. on bass and Nekrutman.
A lyric video for the fourth song, "The Place", went out ahead of it. The running order here is that of the Nuclear Blast pressing.
