LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
The album was recorded in August and September 1993; sources place its release variously in October 1993 and early 1994. The line-up is Satyr (Sigurd Wongraven) on vocals, guitar and bass and Frost (Kjetil-Vidar Haraldstad) on drums, with Håvard Jørgensen, credited as Lemarchand, also playing guitar though his name is not on the sleeve. Torden played keyboards as a session musician.
As the title says, what this record faces is the Middle Ages. It keeps the speed and rawness of black metal while acoustic guitar and flute cut into it, and the songs run long, changing scene several times. The Norwegian song titles are part of the same posture.
Moonfog Productions was Satyr's own label, and this was the first record it released. In May 2021 the band issued a remastered edition with different artwork. The running order here is the original's as printed.
