LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
It was recorded at Soundlab studios and produced by Mieszko Talarczyk of Nasum. Deathvomit Records, a Necropolis subsidiary, issued it in the United States and Century Media in Europe, where the German manufacturers censored the artwork and the band photographs as too disturbing for German consumers: the cover was re-coloured in red and white with a note on top reading, "Check booklet for original artwork."
All fourteen songs have single-word titles, and the disc also holds live videos for "Seeds" and "Strongman" and the "Targets" video, all of which later turned up on the 2004 DVD Murderlive. Relapse Records reissued the album in 2005, to divided opinion: Exclaim! called that reissue "essential to the grind fan", while Kevin Stewart-Panko of Decibel asked whether it was "the easiest reissue job ever?" and noted that the recording did not appear to have been remastered.
Alex Henderson of AllMusic wrote that "from start to finish, Murderworks is an exercise in sensory assault for the sake of sensory assault", called the tempo "insanely fast" and the style one-dimensional, but allowed that "despite the CD's obvious limitations, Murderworks is, in its own way, exhilarating". Greg Pratt of Exclaim! put it the other way: "Not since Nasum's last album has there been a grindcore onslaught as relentless and energetic as Rotten Sound's Murderworks." The running order here is the original's as printed.
