Liner Notes
Revolution Saints is the product of an idea Frontiers president Serafino Perugino had nursed for years. Anyone who watched Deen Castronovo sing “Mother, Father” from behind the drums in Journey already knew: the man has an extraordinary voice. To put that voice front and centre, Jack Blades of Night Ranger came in on bass and Doug Aldrich — freshly out of Whitesnake after twelve years — on guitar. It was recorded in Portland, Oregon in the summer of 2014, produced by Frontiers' in-house man Alessandro Del Vecchio.
Strictly speaking, though, it was not a band. The songs arrived from Del Vecchio essentially finished, and he holds a writing credit on all but one of them. Blades later said candidly that his one regret was that the three of them never got to create the songs together. Even so, he co-wrote and sang “Turn Back Time,” and the chorus of “Dream On” is his. From Journey, Arnel Pineda shares lead vocals on “You're Not Alone” and Neal Schon adds a solo to “Way to the Sun.” “How to Mend a Broken Heart” is an Eclipse cover.
