Wiped Out

The second album, released by Neat in May 1982 and opening with "Faster Than The Speed Of Light". It also contains the song "Live At The Inferno", which would later give the live album its name. This record and the companion Crash Bang Wallop EP were recorded and mixed together in six days flat. Gallagher told ClassicRockHistory that the band had watched live crowds respond hardest to the fast material and pushed the tempos accordingly. The reissue label's own copy states the album reached the UK album chart. As for the opener, Gallagher told Songfacts that its title and idea came out of a stack of physics books he was reading at the time about whether anything can travel faster than light — his reasoning being that a fast song needed a fast idea.
