Raven's fifteenth studio album was made at Heaven And Heller Studios in Los Angeles — drummer Mike Heller's own room — and the band produced it themselves. It is Heller's second record with them. The ten songs open with "Medieval" and close on the advance single "Go For The Gold".
The press material on the band's own site is unusually specific about method. Gallagher says "Go For The Gold" was chosen as the first single because it stated the album's mission outright. The writing rule was that every part of every song had to earn its place, and the three of them argued it out — Mark likens the process to iron sharpening iron. John describes building from an opening riff without milking it, putting hooks in the verse, the pre-chorus and the chorus, then adding small left turns for spice, with the caveat that too many left turns and you have jazz fusion.
Silver Lining Music's date of 30 June 2023 is explicitly the worldwide one excluding Japan; the Japanese edition followed on 9 August through King Records as KICP-4053, adding the bonus track "Rotten" and returning the band to that label's Metal Frontier line for the first time since 2009. The digital edition carries three further guest-heavy bonus tracks featuring Tim "Ripper" Owens and Rudy Sarzo among others.
