Pride of Lions

Pride of Lions is the debut album Jim Peterik built after leaving Survivor, with Toby Hitchcock as his new singer. It was recorded and mixed at World Stage International Studios in Chicago. King Records' Nexus imprint released the Japanese edition on 22 October 2003 as KICP-963; the Frontiers import, FR CD 170, came out the same year. Twelve songs. The band began when Peterik's niece Kelly pointed him towards Hitchcock's voice: they cut a demo of "Love Is On The Rocks" and played it to Serafino Perugino of Frontiers Records. Peterik's own official biography says the debut became an immediate hit in Europe. The fourth track, "Sound of Home", eventually got an official music video of its own — posted on the label's channel on 1 June 2020, seventeen years after the song. That order says something about how firmly the song stayed in the band's repertoire. The Japanese edition, KICP-963, adds three bonus songs — "Surrender to the Night", "Stand by You" and "So Deadly" — for fifteen tracks and one hour fourteen minutes fifty-seven seconds.
