Scream

Scream is the sixth studio album, and its first official release was in Japan, on Epic/Sony, on October 13, 1994. The band's own discography lists it as 1995 on Massacre Records — that is the European pressing, a year behind. The release order says something in itself about how long Japan has been one of this band's principal markets. Ten songs open with "Rise" into the title track and "Psycho-Time-Bomb-Planet-Earth," the last of which was re-recorded for Louder Than Ever in 2014 and stayed in the live set. The middle — "This Love," "Walk Away," "No Messiah" — shifts its centre of gravity song by song, and "Adrenaline Junkie" and "Anytime Anywhere" accelerate into the close. It arrives directly after the CBS/Columbia years and starts the Massacre period that ran to 2002.
