Future World, released by CBS/Columbia in April 1987, is the second studio album and the one the band is best known for. It was recorded at Bearsville Studios in New York. Eddie Kramer produced first; the work was then divided, with Flemming Rasmussen taking the harder songs and Kevin Elson the melodic ones. Splitting the desk by the character of each track is audible in how wide the record is.
Nine songs is short, and none of it is filler. "We Came To Rock," second after the title track, later gave its name to the band's official 2021 book, We Came To Rock – The Official Pretty Maids Journals. "Love Games," "Yellow Rain" and "Loud 'n Proud" each pull in a different direction before "Long Way To Go" closes. The running order here follows the band's own discography; secondary listings of this album disagree with it.
That year Pretty Maids played the Monsters of Rock festival in Germany, headlined by Deep Purple, and Angel Schleifer of Bonfire toured with them through 1987 and 1988.
