Pink Cream 69 is a German melodic-hard-rock debut combining thick guitar, bright keyboards and strong choruses. The soaring voice of Andi Deris — later Helloween’s vocalist — gives the songs both pop accessibility and rock momentum. Emerging from late-1980s Germany, they vividly showed their high potential on this record. On “Take Those Tears,” “Sugar For Love,” “One Step Into Paradise” and “Partymaker,” many hooks are packed into compact songs. Songs like “Welcome The Night” and “World Of Promises” breathe the band’s firm melodic sense too. The songs are accessible, yet the band’s playing never turns light. Strongly stamping the arrival of a new bearer of European melodic metal, it is a full debut that became the firm starting point of a long-running band.
