LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Medusa came out on Nuclear Blast on 1 September 2017 as NB 3797-2, the band's first album for that label. It was recorded at Orgone Studios in Woburn, England, and Jaime Gomez Arellano, who had produced the previous album, produced and mastered it. It is the first album with Waltteri Vayrynen, who joined in 2016, on drums.
Announcing it, Gregor Mackintosh promised a record slower, murkier and more steeped in doom than anything they had made before: eight songs built on riffs, carrying all the gloom of the north of England. The title is the Gorgon of Greek myth, whose gaze turns whoever meets it to stone.
Limited editions add "Shrines" and "Symbolic Virtue". The Japanese edition came out from Chaos Reigns the same day as GQCS-90422, with those two and a new recording of "Frozen Illusion" from the debut, Lost Paradise, for eleven tracks. The track list here is the original eight; the player on this page carries ten, with the two limited-edition songs.
