Liner Notes
Reinventing the Steel is a work on which PANTERA, centered on Dimebag Darrell’s sharp riffs and Vinnie Paul’s massive drums, concentrated on destructive power as heavy metal. Including Phil Anselmo’s roar, the whole band’s playing bears down as a single pressure. As it turned out, it became the last studio album for the band.
On “Hellbound,” “Goddamn Electric” and “Revolution Is My Name,” without becoming extremely complex, they pursue the essence of groove and heaviness. Songs like “Yesterday Don't Mean Shit” and “I'll Cast a Shadow” breathe the band’s full playing too. They strongly carve the band’s unity and intimidation. Due to the tragic death of Dimebag Darrell in 2004, this became the last work by the original members. It is a powerful conclusion left by the kings of groove metal.
