LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
The Killing Kind, the eighth album, came out on 5 March 1996 on CMC International in the United States as CMC 7604 and on Concrete/Edel in Europe. It was recorded at Carriage House Studio in Stamford in September and October 1995 and produced by the band, and Chris Tsangarides mixed it with them. Joe Comeau and Sebastian Marino replace Merritt Gant and Rob Cannavino on guitar.
It opens the band's independent era after Atlantic, and the later box set Historikill, covering 1995 to 2007, starts with it. It is a crushingly heavy record that carries the band's new independent spirit. Around this time D.D. Verni told Ellsworth that there was nothing more dangerous than two guys from Jersey with nothing to lose. The band have managed themselves since the mid-nineties.
The Japanese edition (PCCY-00923) came out on Pony Canyon on 19 April 1996 with a cover of Black Sabbath's "Cornucopia" as track eleven. The player on this page plays a thirteen-track edition that adds "Cornucopia", "Tyrant" and "Killogy"; the running order here follows the ten-track original.
