Necroshine

Necroshine, the tenth album, came out on 23 February 1999 on CMC International in the United States as 06076 86267-2 and on Steamhammer/SPV in Germany. It was recorded and mixed at the Carriage House Studio in Stamford in November and December 1998, produced by the band with Andy Katz, by the same five-piece as the previous album. Ellsworth tells how the title song came about. While he was dealing with a carcinoma on his nose, D.D. Verni rang to ask whether there was anything he needed; Ellsworth asked for a song, something to take his mind off it, and three days later "Necroshine" arrived on a cassette with no vocals or melody on it. While he waited for his results, he says, it turned his head in a more positive direction. The Japanese edition (CRCL-4722) followed on Nippon Crown on 21 April 1999, adding a cover of the Sex Pistols' "No Feelings" as a bonus for Japan alone. The running order here is the original's as printed.
