LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
The title comes from Edogawa Ranpo's novel and from its character, the Fiend with Twenty Faces. The band took their own name from one of Ranpo's stories, and this is a concept album about him: almost every title and every set of lyrics rests on one of his books.
The band is a trio — Shinji Wajima on guitar and vocals, Ken-ichi Suzuki on bass and vocals, Masuhiro Goto on drums and vocals. The artwork is by the manga artist Kotaro Okoshi, who had also drawn the sleeves for Ogon no Yoake and Odoru Issunboshi. In the video for the title song Suzuki plays the Fiend, Wajima plays the detective Kogoro Akechi and Goto plays the boy assistant Kobayashi.
"Imomushi", taken from Ranpo's story of the same name, was used as the closing theme of the Elf computer game Kisaku. The album was reissued on HQCD in 2016. The running order here is the original's as printed.
