Liner Notes
Human. :II: Nature. is the ninth album, on which NIGHTWISH took on a double album with the contrast of human endeavor and the grandeur of nature as its theme. It was made with the lineup of Floor Jansen (vocals), Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards), Emppu Vuorinen (guitar), Marco Hietala (bass/vocals), Kai Hahto (drums) and Troy Donockley (pipes). It takes a bold structure: a first disc gathering songs, and a second disc that is an orchestra-only suite.
On disc one, the powerful call of "Noise," the folky elation of "Harvest" and the warmth of "How's the Heart?" line up. Disc two's suite "All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World" is an instrumental work depicting scenes of nature across eight movements. Completely separating metal and orchestra, it is an ambitious work showing the depth of the band's musical inquiry. For Marco Hietala, it became his last album with the band.
