Mr. Big's first full best-of came out in Japan on 25 November 1996, drew on the four studio albums from the debut to Hey Man plus live recordings, and climbed to number two on the Oricon album chart, where it stayed for 22 weeks. Evolution Music's evoXS imprint, which issues this 30th-anniversary edition, calls it a million-seller. The sixteen songs have been remastered onto an MQA-CD, although "Addicted to That Rush" and "Rock and Roll Over" stay at their original quality, not MQA, because of the master files.
The second disc, a regular CD, holds twelve live performances from the years up to 1996: Irvine Meadows on 18 June 1991, the Warfield in San Francisco on 28 March 1992, Tokyo's Kosei Nenkin Hall on 29 October 1993, the Budokan on 19 April 1996 and Channel V at the Hard Rock on 1 July 1996. The label describes the Irvine Meadows performances of "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind" and "Addicted To That Rush" as hard to find or previously unreleased; in October 2026 the band's official channel posted that "Addicted To That Rush" and the Warfield "Rock And Roll Over", along with a lyric video for "Unnatural".
Copies distributed in Japan (EVSA3804MJ) come with new Japanese liner notes by the writer Yuichi Masuda, and the CD has a release date of 27 November 2026. The sixteen songs also come as a hybrid multichannel SACD, on which "Seven Impossible Days", "Wild World", "Colorado Bulldog", "Promise Her the Moon" and "Nothing But Love" are remixed in 5.1, and as a numbered double LP on transparent light brown vinyl, limited to 3,000 copies, whose silent fourth side is etched from Paul Gilbert's sketches of the band.
The songs come from the band's classic line-up of Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert, Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey; Sheehan and Gilbert also filmed playthroughs of "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind" and "Just Take My Heart" for this release.
