Liner Notes
Shout at the Devil is a work on which MÖTLEY CRÜE bundled Mick Mars’s heavy riffs, Nikki Sixx’s surging bass and Vince Neil’s sharp singing. The songs are rough yet clear in outline, turning the band’s dangerous image into sound itself. It is an early signature work that pushed the band into stardom at a stroke.
On “Shout at the Devil,” “Looks That Kill” and “Too Young to Fall In Love,” the riffs, beats and hooks are all strong. A cover of the Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” is also included. Songs like “Bastard,” “Red Hot” and “Knock 'Em Dead, Kid” breathe the band’s full playing too. They carve not only the flamboyance of LA metal but its darkness and aggression. With a demonic image and sturdy songs, it is a record that established the band’s standing.
