My Years with UFO

My Years with UFO was released on 20 September 2024 by earMUSIC, with the Japanese pressing on Ward Records (JAN 4571614700618). Eleven tracks, about sixty minutes. It is credited to Michael Schenker alone, where the records immediately before it carried the Michael Schenker Fest and Michael Schenker Group names. The album does what its title says: it re-records songs from Schenker’s years in UFO. ‘Natural Thing’, ‘Only You Can Rock Me’, ‘Doctor Doctor’, ‘Lights Out’, ‘Rock Bottom’, ‘Too Hot to Handle’ and ‘Shoot Shoot’ are all here. The playing rests on Schenker’s guitar with Barry Sparks on bass, Derek Sherinian on keyboards and Brian Tichy on drums. The singing, and some of the guitar, is shared out among guests: Dee Snider with Joel Hoekstra, Joey Tempest with Roger Glover, Joe Lynn Turner with Carmine Appice, Slash with Erik Grönwall, Biff Byford, Axl Rose, Jeff Scott Soto with John Norum, Kai Hansen, Adrian Vandenberg, Michael Voss and Stephen Pearcy. ‘Rock Bottom’, past eleven minutes, is sung by Hansen.
