Wall of Sound places Marty Friedman’s individual melodic sense and emotion-speaking guitar tone at the front of an instrumental record. There are fast phrases and technical solos, but the center is always the expression of the melody and the mood of the song. The guitar carries the narrative in place of a singer. Hard rock, metal and film-score-like drama cross paths, opening a different landscape from track to track.
