Thunder in the Sky

A two-disc EP released in 2009, it is listed on the band's own site as a "2 disc EP". When it was announced in June that year, it was presented as the forerunner of the album Hammer of the Gods, the first part of "The Asgard Saga", a multimedia fantasy the band was creating with the author Wolfgang Hohlbein. The spine reads "From The Asgard Saga", and the booklet carries Hohlbein's stories for the songs in English and German. Joey DeMaio produced it. The first disc holds six songs: the title track, "Let the Gods Decide", "Father", "Die With Honor", which had been released as a single in 2008, a metal version of "The Crown and the Ring" from Kings of Metal, and "God or Man". The second disc holds fifteen versions of "Father", sung in Bulgarian, Croatian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish, and the booklet prints lyrics such as the Spanish and Turkish ones, the Turkish with its translator's name. The band's official biography presents the recording of "Father" in 18 languages as a first in heavy metal; the EP itself carries 16, English included. The announcement said that a tour edition would be sold at the venues of the "Death to Infidels Tour", which took the band to several of Europe's largest metal festivals, and that the same content would be sold as an MP3 download in the band's online store. The retail edition, a digipak, came out on Magic Circle Music in July 2009. It entered the German albums chart at No. 28 and stayed for three weeks.
